Falling for Nitefall

by LDePhill

I love Des Moines. No really, I love Des Moines. When I meet people around the country and tell them that I am from Iowa, I usually get the same questions like, “Is there anything to do there?” or “Do you live on a farm?” It is actually a surprise to many people that Des Moines is a pretty kick ass city (yeah, I called it a city). One of the things that I love about Des Moines, and the reason I started DSMVibe, is that we have such a kick ass music scene. And one of my absolute favorite venues to catch a show at is Simon Estes Amphitheater; that is, when it hasn’t flooded.

Each summer, the Nitefall on the River concert series brings in amazing bands to play at Simon Estes. Some of my favorite shows have been Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Slightly Stoopid, Umphrey’s McGee and Yonder Mountain String Band.

Well, the lineup this year does not disappoint. In fact, I am pretty freaking excited about several of these shows. I will definitely be attending Matisyahu, Grace Potter, Ingrid Michaelson, Jimmy Cliff, Yonder Mountain String Band and BRUCE HORNSBY!! So I might be a bit more excited for some shows over others 😉
